Salish Sea Aurora

From my first experience photographing the Northern Lights in Fairbanks, Alaska, I was hooked. From time to time, there will be enough activity for viewing at the 49th parallel. When this happens and there are clear skies I will be out there way past my bedtime. On May 11, 2024, the clear sky lit up with an amazing amount of activity. That evening was the inspiration for the 10" diameter piece shown below with the aurora and moon reflecting on the waters of the Salish Sea. The shoreline pieces at the bottom were collected locally and the stones spent a month being tumbled and polished. This piece was sold out of Tigh Na Mara and the customer was kind enough to hand write the note at the bottom. It was very nice to read this and hopefully one day we will have a chance to thank them.
